What's going on?
- In Social Studies, we talked about peaceful protests and why it is important to have rules
- In Phys Ed, we dodged equipment while dribbling our basketballs
- In Math, we practiced prime and composite numbers and listened to a fun song to help us remember prime numbers
- For writing, we started making connections. We listened to Nerdy Birdy and wrote a summary of the book using at least 5 sentences. We then made a text-to-self connection, writing at least 5 sentences. We are working towards finishing our tasks within the time given. For example, students had 30 minutes to write their 10 total sentences.
- Yesterday in Music, we learned more of You Can't Stop the Beat and learned choreography
- We watched kid president kindness to show that you do not have to do huge things to make a difference, it just takes small actions to make the world a better place

Message from Miss Herron:
I have seen incredible growth in multiplication knowledge from students that have been practicing at home! If you have not been practicing at home, please discuss with your student the different ways that they can build these skills. We had a class discussion about different strategies, including skip counting while brushing teeth, making home made flash cards, coming up with rhymes to help remember the tricky questions.

As we continue in Math this year, these skills are essential for students to be successful. Thank you so much to families that have been putting in the work to help your students!

I have attached some example questions for factoring, this is a skill that we use for both prime and composite and fractions later in the year.

Social Studies Citizenship Shields: If students did not finish their shields during the class time provided, they were sent home to be completed. Please make sure they are put into backpacks and brought back to school on Thursday so they can be glued into our visual journals.

Our class is having a difficult time with calling out and interrupting others during whole class lessons and transition times. Due to this, we have had to have reset times where students go back to their tables and put their heads down. Please have a conversation with your student about appropriate times to talk. During lessons, this means not having conversations with those around them when others (who have raised their hand and waited their turn) are sharing their ideas. During transition times (going from one activity to another) students are need to be quick and quiet so we are able to move on to the next part of our learning. Thank you for the support!
